Overview

UNS is a Openverse network based on-chain naming protocol for managing ecosystems and entities.

The protocol separates names into two conceptual layers:

  • Ecosystem — a namespace or protocol scheme prefix, such as open,id,document
  • Entity — a name inside an ecosystem or another entity hierarchy, such as open://com, open://google.com

The protocol is designed so that ecosystems and entities can maintain configurable metadata and body data, support ownership, expiration, renewal, transfer, sale, and rental.
